Delivery of Your Lease Vehicle
The moment has arrived – the delivery of your lease vehicle. This exciting step marks the finale of your decision-making process, where you've chosen the perfect vehicle to suit your needs and preferences. In this guide, we’ll explain the essential aspects of receiving your lease vehicle, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable delivery process. Let's get started on this journey together!
Step 1 - Order Processing
Once your financial checks have undergone approval, the next exciting phase begins. Your chosen vehicle is swiftly and seamlessly ordered through one of our trusted supplying dealers. Rest assured, we maintain strong relationships with these dealers, ensuring that your leasing experience is of the highest quality.
It's important to note that all vehicles leased through GB Vehicle Leasing come directly from the manufacturer's franchised UK dealer network. Our network of dealers includes dedicated specialists who adhere to a standardised set of criteria, ensuring that you consistently receive the utmost quality of service. Furthermore, each car, pickup truck or van comes with the comprehensive coverage of the manufacturer's warranty for peace of mind.
Step 2 – Awaiting Build at the Factory
In the case of a factory order, wherein your vehicle is yet to be constructed, your order will be sent to the manufacturer, where it will be allocated a specific slot for production. The duration of the lead times for factory orders can fluctuate, influenced by a range of factors. These include the manufacturer's allocation schedule, customer demand for the particular model, and the timing of your order placement in the calendar year.
As a general guideline, most manufacturers aim to deliver factory orders within approximately three months. However, it's important to note that for certain models, the production timeline may extend beyond this timeframe. Please note that GB Vehicle Leasing has no control over the lead times for vehicles, but our admin team will keep you regularly updated about your order and vehicle delivery.
Around four weeks before your vehicle is scheduled for production, the manufacturer will officially confirm the build week. This meticulous timing is crucial to guarantee that the precise components are readily available when needed.
Step 3 – Production Begins!
We're delighted to inform you that the production of your new vehicle is now officially underway. At this stage, the bodywork and paintwork have reached an advanced stage of completion, and your vehicle has seamlessly transitioned to the assembly line for its meticulous construction. Typically, vehicles spend around two weeks in the 'build’ phase, where every intricate detail is meticulously assembled to ensure your new vehicle meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality. This exciting phase marks a significant step towards getting your new lease vehicle.
Step 4 – Shipping
After your vehicle completes its production phase, the next leg of its journey begins as it embarks on its way to the UK. It's important to note that manufacturing facilities are located across the globe, which means the duration of the delivery process varies depending on the specific model.
It's worth noting that issues related to the shipping process can occasionally lead to delays in the delivery of your new vehicle. The transportation of vehicles from the manufacturing site to the dealership is an intricate and large-scale operation. At times challenges can arise, such as processing bottlenecks at ports, which can significantly hinder the timely delivery of any new vehicle. Additionally, external factors, like adverse weather conditions, may also potentially cause delays in the process.
Step 5 – Landed in the UK
Upon reaching the shores of the UK, your vehicle proceeds to one of two destinations: the dealership or the manufacturer's holding compound. It is at this point that the dealership undertakes a comprehensive Pre-Delivery Inspection, commonly referred to as a PDI check, to certify that the vehicle is in optimal condition for delivery.
This meticulous examination encompasses a thorough assessment of the vehicle's exterior, interior, mechanical components, and electrical systems. Every aspect of the car is scrutinized to guarantee its readiness for handover to the eagerly awaiting customer. Additionally, during this process, the dealership takes the necessary steps to officially register your vehicle with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), thereby enabling you to receive your vehicle's official registration number. This final phase marks the moment when your new vehicle is prepped and primed for you.
However, any vehicle damages or the absence of essential vehicle components could potentially result in a delay in the delivery. Typically, minor issues can be rectified at the dealership, but more significant concerns will require the support of a specialised technician or extra time.
Step 6 - Delivery to Your Door!
Following the successful completion of all essential checks and competition of your finance documents, our team will reach out to you to coordinate the delivery process. We take care of the hassle for you by ensuring the delivery of your vehicle directly to your doorstep.
Our commitment to your convenience extends to the timing of the delivery. Whenever feasible, we will make every effort to schedule the delivery at a time and date that aligns with your preferences (deliveries usually happen Monday to Friday between 9am – 5:30pm).
After we have confirmed your delivery date and completed the registration process for your new vehicle, the next step entails organising insurance coverage for your vehicle. It is your responsibility to secure fully comprehensive insurance coverage for the vehicle, covering all essential aspects.

Vehicle Delivery
There are three methods of vehicle delivery:
Driven Delivery: In most instances, vehicles are personally driven to your designated handover location. On the day of delivery, our dedicated driver retrieves the vehicle from the dealership or Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) centre and transports it to your home or workplace. Similar to a dealership handover, on the day of delivery, the driver guides you through the essential vehicle functions and addresses any queries you may have.
Transported Delivery: A transported delivery involves your vehicle being safely transported to your chosen delivery address via a car or van transporter. This option appeals to customers who have ordered prestigious or high-value vehicles and seek minimal delivery mileage on the odometer. Please be aware that an additional charge is associated with this method, with costs varying based on location and availability. Also, it's important to note that this option might influence your vehicle's delivery date, as it is depending on transporter availability.
Collection at Dealership: On rare occasions, the collection of your lease vehicle from the supplying dealership may be possible. However, please note that this option may not always be accessible, as certain vehicles are directly delivered from the PDI centre or holding compound, which is not accessible to the public. Furthermore, it's essential to acknowledge that the supplying dealer may not necessarily be the one local to you, and you will be responsible for organising your own transportation to the dealership on the scheduled collection day at your own expense.
Vehicle Delivery FAQs

Can the vehicle be delivered to me at weekend?
Regrettably, we do not offer deliveries on weekends or public holidays. The standard delivery schedule operates from Monday to Friday, within the time window of 9am to 5:30pm. It's essential to acknowledge that specific delivery times can be subject to variations due to factors like traffic conditions, geographical location, and extreme weather. On rare occasions, deliveries may occur outside the typical timeframe.
How much does delivery cost?
Enjoy the convenience of free vehicle delivery to your doorstep. We offer this service at no additional cost, making the process of receiving your vehicle as seamless as can be. Please note that some exclusions may apply for addresses located outside mainland UK.
Do you offer time slots for the delivery?
Although we offer a delivery date, we do not have designated time slots for delivery. However, the assigned driver is expected to give you a call at least one hour before their arrival.
What happens if I have to rearrange the delivery?
If you need to change the vehicle delivery date, please contact our admin team ASAP on 0161 762 5680. Please note that sometimes the dealer may charge a fee for cancelling the original delivery, especially if it’s at short notice. This is the dealer’s decision, although we will of course let you know if any charges apply.
Will the delivery mileage count towards my contractual mileage allowance?
In short, no. When delivered, the odometer of your vehicle may indicate some mileage, which is commonly referred to as 'delivery mileage.' Importantly, this mileage is separate from and does not contribute to your pre-agreed contracted mileage, pending approval from the finance provider. During the delivery process, the driver will record the delivery mileage on the delivery note. It is also advisable to take note of this figure for your personal records and reference.
