Day of Vehicle Delivery

Day of Vehicle Delivery

For those who haven't experienced the delivery process when leasing a vehicle, it can understandably be a somewhat daunting experience. But don’t worry – GB Vehicle Leasing are here to make sure the process is straightforward to understand. This guide is designed to provide insights into what to anticipate on the day of the delivery. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0161 762 5680.

Vehicle Handover

The initial phase of the handover process involves a thorough inspection of your lease vehicle. First, check that the vehicle's registration number precisely matches the details outlined in the contract, and that the vehicle specifications align with the contractual terms. This verification is paramount, as failure to do so and signing the document could potentially lead to inadvertent commitment to the vehicle. In the event that the delivered vehicle does not correspond to your contracted one, immediate action is imperative. In such cases, the correct course of action would be to decline acceptance of the vehicle and promptly notify both us and the finance company.

Subsequently, it is essential to conduct a comprehensive examination of the vehicle, both its interior and exterior, meticulously inspecting for any indications of dents, scratches, or other imperfections. If any discrepancies are identified, it is vital to promptly inform the delivery team, capture photographic evidence, and report the issues. Please bear in mind that, as per the fair wear and tear guidelines, any damage beyond the point of accepting the delivery would become your responsibility.

Specific areas that warrant close attention include:

  1. The vehicle’s paintwork, where you should be vigilant for scratches and dents etc.

  2. All glass surfaces, including mirrors, should be examined for any cracks or chips.

  3. An interior assessment is necessary to ensure it has no stains, rips, tears, and scratches.

  4. Confirm the presence of a vehicle handbook, locking wheel nuts and a spare tyre (if applicable).

  5. The wheels and tyres need to be inspected for scuffs, scratches, and any signs of curb damage.

  6. You should be provided with one full key and a spare.

The vehicle should arrive in a reasonably clean condition. It may not be in a spotless state as the act of being driven can naturally lead to some degradation in the cleanliness. Remember that this inspection phase plays a pivotal role in safeguarding your interests and ensuring the vehicle's condition aligns with your expectations and contractual agreements.

Delivery Mileage

Upon delivery, your vehicle's odometer may display a certain level of mileage, often termed as 'delivery mileage.' Importantly, this mileage is separate from and does not factor into your pre-agreed contracted mileage, subject to approval from the finance provider. As part of the delivery process, the driver will document the delivery mileage on the delivery note. It is also advisable to make your own note of the figure for your personal records and reference.

Vehicle Demonstration

The delivery driver might provide you with an overview of the vehicle, covering the essential aspects of its operation. However, it's important to note that delivery drivers are not required to offer an in-depth technical demonstration. For an extensive demonstration, we consistently advise arranging a test drive at your nearby dealership before placing an order, or alternatively, visiting the dealership once you have taken possession of the lease vehicle.

Fuel

When you take delivery, it’s typical for the vehicle not to be provided with a full tank of fuel. Nevertheless, general practice is to deliver the vehicle with at least a quarter tank of fuel, although it's important to note that this is not a binding contractual requirement. Don’t worry - it will have sufficient fuel to reach a nearby fuel station.

Signing the ‘Vehicle Acceptance’ Note

If you’re happy with the vehicle's condition, it is time to sign the ‘Vehicle Acceptance’ Note. It's essential to recognise that the delivery documents are distinct from the previously executed contract. The delivery note serves the purpose of confirming delivery of the vehicle and your satisfaction with all aspects.

Upon signing, you assume responsibility for the vehicle and its current condition. Any potential damage that may have eluded your notice becomes your responsibility, underscoring the importance of conducting a thorough inspection before proceeding. If you’re not happy with the vehicle and its condition, please don’t sign this documentation. Instead, promptly notify both GB Vehicle Leasing and the finance company that you’re declining the lease vehicle.
