Van Leasing FAQs
Here are a few common questions you may have when choosing to lease a new van. Whether you're new to the world of van leasing or seeking clarifications on specific aspects, we've put together a list of frequently asked questions to provide you with key information you require.
What is van leasing?
Van leasing is essentially a long-term rental agreement, offering exclusive use of a van for a set period at a fixed monthly price. Rather than pay large deposits, you simply pay a small initial rental at the start of the lease, followed by your monthly payment. Leasing a van lets you avoid any unexpected depreciation costs by offering a fixed monthly payment for the term of the agreed lease. There are various funding methods available to choose from, each with their own pros and cons.
When you lease a new van, it is possible to add servicing and maintenance to most of our deals for an additional fixed monthly cost. Insurance is not included, so this is your responsibility to arrange.
Are all the vans you supply brand new?
Yes, all of our lease vans are brand new vans supplied by dealerships. GB Vehicle Leasing has long-established links with some of the best suppliers across the UK, enabling our pricing team to ensure we offer the very best van lease deals. Sometimes we have huge discounts on ‘pre-registered’ vehicles. This just means they have to be registered before a certain date; they are still brand new vans.
How long does it take to deliver the van?
If a van is in stock, it's typically available for delivery within 2-4 weeks (approx.) from order. The statutory cooling off period stated by the finance company (usually 14 working days) must expire before delivery of a vehicle can take place. Also, delivery dates are subject to change by the manufacturer and on occasion, delays may occur. If the van you want isn’t in stock it will be a factory order so these delivery times can vary but we’ll keep you updated of the van’s progress regularly. We require all of the necessary documentation in place before delivery of a vehicle.
Should I lease a van in my own name or through my company?
Each method of funding has its own advantages and disadvantages to consider when looking to lease a van. The most suitable funding method may vary depending on your circumstances and your company. Our leasing consultants can explain all the options available to you, however it's worth also consulting your accountant or local tax office to verify your individual circumstances. Can I buy my van at the end of the agreement?
Yes, some methods of funding allow you to buy the van at the end of the agreement. However, it does depend on the method of funding you choose. Please contact us on 0161 667 5338 or send us a message and one of our leasing consultants can explain the van lease options available to you.
Several months before your contract comes to an end, a member of our team will be in touch to discuss your options. However, if you want to discuss this sooner, please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll see how we can assist you.
Can I put my private plate on my lease van?
Yes, you can put a private number plate onto a leased van, but there are certain measures that must be taken before doing so, as the vehicle isn't owned by you. Please contact our Admin Team on 0161 762 5680 or send us a message and we will assist you with this.
Can I fit a tow bar or roof rack to my lease van?
Prior to placing your order, please inform us of any extra accessories you would like to have installed on your vehicle, such as a tow bar or roof racks. While minor and reversible alterations may be allowed by the finance provider, any modifications made will be at your own liability. Furthermore, prior to returning the vehicle at the end of the lease agreement, it is your responsibility to arrange for the removal of all modifications without causing any damage to the van.
Can you lease an electric van?
Yes, nowadays there’s a great choice of electric van available including the Ford E-Transit, Citroen e-Dispatch and Maxus eDeliver 3, just to mention a few. Leasing an electric van can be a smart and eco-friendly option for businesses and individuals looking to reduce their carbon footprint and operating costs. With zero-emissions and low running costs, electric vans are becoming popular.
What is the most affordable van to lease?
This can vary depending on the special offers we have available at the time or other factors like trim level and optional features. However, in general, some of the most affordable models tend to include the Ford Transit Courier, Renault Kangoo and Citroen Berlingo.
In particular, the Ford Transit Courier is a compact and versatile van designed for urban driving. With its compact dimensions, it offers easy maneuverability, making it ideal for navigating busy city streets and tight spaces. Despite its smaller size, the Transit Courier boasts an impressive cargo capacity, making it suitable for various business and delivery purposes. To get a bespoke quote on our best van lease deals, please contact GB Vehicle Leasing on 0161 667 5338.
What are the most popular van models?
There are various vans in particular that have gained significant popularity and remain some of the best-selling vans in the UK. Firstly, the Ford Transit is a large van known for its reliability, versatility, and wide range of configurations. Also, the Peugeot Partner, along with the Citroen Berlingo, are well-liked options for small business owners and fleet operators. These offer a compact design with decent cargo space and good fuel economy.
That being said, the ideal van for a specific individual or business will depend on their specific requirements. Different van models offer varying features, sizes, and capabilities, catering to a wide range of purposes. If you’re unsure which van to lease, it’s a good idea to research different models first and compare their key features, payloads etc.
Who can lease a van?
Van leasing is available for both individuals and businesses. If you operate as a limited company, partnership, sole trader, or LLP, you have the opportunity to qualify for a business van leasing agreement. The process will involve completing a finance application and getting approved for finance by a lender. Alternatively, personal van leasing involves a lease agreement taken out by an individual rather than a through a business, for a new vehicle.
