Step inside the Dacia Spring electric, and you’ll quickly realise one thing - it’s all about keeping things simple. This isn’t some plush, tech-laden EV that tries to wow you with endless touchscreens and fancy mood lighting. Nope, the Spring sticks to Dacia’s no-frills philosophy, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely barebones!

First, the dashboard is clean and straightforward, with plenty of hard plastics. The driving position is upright, giving you a decent view of the road, and the physical buttons for climate control are refreshingly old-school. Some key features include ISOFIX mountings, manual air conditioning with heater, tinted windows and electric front windows. Despite its budget price, Dacia has squeezed in some modern essentials. As for safety features, you get lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, rear parking sensors and hill start assist as standard, just to mention a few.

For a car that’s all about affordability, this Dacia EV is more comfortable than you’d expect. The seats are fairly supportive, and while they’re not wrapped in premium leather, they do the job for short to medium journeys. Rear passengers don’t get loads of legroom, but for city driving and quick trips, it’s perfectly fine.

Pop the boot open, and you’ll find 308 litres of boot space - which is actually more than a Fiat 500e. One downside? There’s no front boot (frunk) like you’d get in some other EVs. But hey, that’s what the side pockets and under-seat storage are for.

Dacia has made sure the Spring isn’t just small, it’s smart. You get plenty of storage compartments inside, including decent-sized door bins, cupholders, and a handy little tray for your phone. The high roofline also means passengers won’t feel too claustrophobic, even in the back.

This Dacia EV isn’t here to win any races but let’s be honest - that’s not what it was built for. This little EV is all about efficiency, affordability, and zipping around the city. With its 26.8kWh battery, the Spring has a driving range of up to 140 miles (combined -WLTP). That might not sound like much compared to pricier EVs, but for a car designed for urban adventures, it’s more than enough. Most city drivers won’t even need to charge it more than once a week.

Charging isn’t a hassle either. Plug it into a 7.4kW home charger, and it’ll go from 0 to 100% in about 5 hours. Need a quick top-up? The Spring supports DC fast charging, achieving from 20% to 80% charge in 46 minutes.  

Under the hood (well, technically under the floor), it has two electric motor options: a 44 bhp (Electric 45) or a 64 bhp (Electric 65) version. The 0-62mph time? A leisurely 19.1 seconds for the Dacia Spring Electric 45 - but who’s counting? Around town, it actually feels pretty nippy thanks to the instant torque of an EV. It’s great for weaving through traffic, tackling tight parking spots, and taking on those sneaky short cuts that bigger cars wouldn’t dare enter. The slightly more powerful Dacia Spring Electric 65 can achieve 0-62mph in 13.7 seconds.

The Dacia Spring electric isn’t about high-speed thrills, but it excels where it matters. The steering is light, the suspension is soft enough to handle potholes (mostly). It’s the perfect little urban runabout—efficient, stress-free, and fun in a simple, old-school way.

Dacia has equipped the Spring with six airbags, emergency braking assist, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and hill-start assist as standard. Of course, other electric cars might have more advanced safety features, but they also come with a much higher price tag. And this is a point worth considering.
