Review: The New Volkswagen ID.4
The new Volkswagen ID.4 is an all-electric SUV, joining Volkswagen’s model line-up as the second ID model. Compared to its ID.3 sibling, the VW ID.4 is bigger in size and much sleeker. That said, how does it compare to other electric SUVs, such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E? Let’s delve deeper to find out.
As the demand for electric cars continues to rise, GB Vehicle Leasing feel it’s a wise move for Volkswagen to jump into the electric SUV market. We think the ID.4 is trendy, as well as practical. Plus, the large boot space is a real bonus. In terms of range, the VW ID.4 is capable of up to 310 miles on one full charge (WLTP). This is almost on par with the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Also, the ID.4 boot capacity is significantly bigger than the Mach-E’s which is perfect for families.
In total, there are eight trim levels of the ID.4 to choose from. The entry-level City specification starts from £32,150 including the government’s £2500 plug-in vehicle grant. The ID.4 City Pure powered by a 148bhp electric motor can achieve up to 213 miles of electric range on one full charge. This is also the only VW ID.4 option eligible for the grant as it’s priced under the revised £35,000 grant cap. Standard features on this trim include, heated front seats, LED headlights and Adaptive Cruise Control stop & go, just to mention a few.
At the top of the range, the new ID.4 GTX with all-wheel-drive has just been revealed. This offers the perfect blend of high range, sporty performance and the comfort of an SUV. In terms of performance, the new ID.4 GTX can reach 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds – very impressive! Plus, it’s capable of 190 miles of electric range from only 30 minutes rapid charge. Also, with its signature strip light and exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, the GTX variant has the ultimate sporty feel to it.
GB Vehicle Leasing think the VW ID.4 is brilliant and we particularly love the choice of eight trims to choose from. This enables customers to choose their ideal electric car which meets all their requirements. We feel the ID.4 will particularly appeal as a family lease car due to the excellent range and practicality of an SUV.
