The New Genesis GV80
The time has come to meet the first-ever Genesis SUV. Packed with style, performance and all-road capabilities, this luxury SUV is called The Genesis GV80. This fantastic car rivals the likes of the BMW X5 and Audi Q7. That said, currently in the UK, Genesis is yet to receive the same appreciation as iconic brands like Land Rover and Bentley. So, what is the Genesis GV80 actually like?
Genesis GV80 Design & Features
Firstly, the Genesis GV80 has been beautifully designed to look elegant and appealing. The exterior features a tapered roofline and sleek lines, giving this Genesis car a sophisticated look. Meanwhile, the interior features a 14.5" touchscreen on the dashboard for the infotainment system. Stay connected on your journeys in the Genesis GV80 thanks to features such as Genesis Connected Services. We also like the voice activated controls which allow you to operate a range of features just using your voice. Furthermore, all versions of the Genesis GV80 have electric front seats as standard, plus a rear-view camera and sensors.
Genesis GV80 Safety
It’s clear that safety has been made paramount when designing the Genesis GV80. In this SUV, advanced safety tech has been incorporated, giving you peace of mind on all your journeys. In particular, we like the Smart Cruise Control as it learns and matches your typical driving style. As standard, some of the safety features on the Genesis GV80 include 10 airbags, lane-keeping assistance and blind-spot monitoring, just to mention a few. For more safety features, you may decide to opt for the Innovation Pack as an option on your new car. During independent crash-testing, the Genesis GV80 achieved a full Euro NCAP Safety Rating of five stars, which included an excellent score of 91 per cent in its adult occupancy NCAP assessment. We feel this Genesis car will particularly appeal as a family SUV.
Genesis GV80 Performance & Engines
The V in GV80 stands for "versatile", as this car is not only safe, but also a pleasure to drive. Like the Land Rover Discovery, the Genesis GV80 has excellent off-road performance. The Terrain Mode helps to ensure the GV80 performs well regardless of the road conditions. Also, enjoy a peaceful and quiet ride thanks to advanced technology known as Active Road Noise Control. As for engine options, the Genesis GV80 has one petrol and one diesel. The petrol 2.5 turbo-charged engine enables incredible performance. With a max output of 304ps, this car can achieve 0-60pmh in 7.7 seconds. Although, if you would prefer a diesel, then the six-cylinder 3.0 diesel engine is for you. This has a reduced max output of 278ps though, which means it isn’t as fast as some key rivals.
Genesis GV80 Price
The Genesis GV80 price starts from £56,815 for the diesel option and £56,715 for the petrol one. This is similar to key rivals like the Audi Q7 price. If you would prefer a seven-seater version, then the Genesis GV80 price starts from £57,215 for the petrol one. In terms of trim levels, the GV80 is available as either the premium or luxury version – the latter priced from £62,815. We feel these prices seem reasonable for a car of this kind. However, if you’re looking for a company car and consider company car tax, then the Genesis GV80 is unlikely to be top of your list. High CO2 emissions means you can expect to pay high rates in benefit-in-kind tax (BIK). Therefore, you might want to consider an electric car like the Kia e-Niro or the BMW iX3 instead.
We feel the Genesis GV80 deserves a rating of 3.8/5 stars from GB Vehicle Leasing. This Genesis car will appeal to the growing SUV market, especially with the option for seven seats. Although, it doesn’t quite match the interior quality of some rivals like the Audi Q7. As these two SUVs start at similar prices, we expect the Audi to remain the popular choice over the Genesis GV80. Also, this SUV doesn’t have an electric version currently which might disappoint some people. That said, we feel the Genesis GV80 is beautifully designed and is still a great addition to the Genesis model range.
