The Iconic Ford Fiesta
The Ford Fiesta is one of our favourite supermini cars for sale today. With a history dating back to the 70s, the Fiesta is recognised as one of the best-value small cars available. But what makes it stand out from other rivals like the Renault Clio? Read our full Ford Fiesta review to find out.
In the 70's, the Ford Fiesta was introduced as the automaker’s first supermini. However, it didn’t take long for this Ford car to become desirable and by 1980 over a million had been sold. Since then, there has been various facelifts, which has upgraded and improved this popular supermini. Plus, Ford has always ensured the Ford Fiesta remains an affordable and practical car which appeals to a wide audience. This has helped to build a loyal customer base with many opting to keep with the same Ford model for countless years. Who can blame them though – this truly is an incredible small car with so much going for it!

Over the years, the Ford Fiesta has won many awards and remains one of the UK’s best-selling cars. So, what else make this small Ford car so popular? Well, Ford clearly made safety paramount when designing the Ford Fiesta, closely followed by ensuring a range of highly fuel-efficient engine options are available. The Fiesta has an array of excellent safety features such as the lane-keeping system, ABS and emergency brake assist, just to mention a few. This was reflected in the 2017 Euro NCAP full five-star safety rating for the Ford Fiesta. Also, the latest Fiesta is available with mild hybrid technology. This helps to increase fuel economy, as well as lower emissions which is better for the environment.
Furthermore, when designing the latest Fiesta, Ford optimised all of the space in this five-seater. Various stowage spaces are available in this car which can come in handy. Plus, a USB socket is a real bonus for charging your mobile. Also, the Ford Fiesta feels well-built thanks to the high-quality materials used throughout. In particular, we think the Fiesta’s infotainment system looks smart. The Ford Fiesta is available as either three or five-door form. In terms of space, this car is spacious upfront, although rivals like the VW Polo offer more rear passenger space. As for the boot capacity, the latest Fiesta offers 311-litres of space. This is a slight increase from its predecessor, although several rivals have bigger boots, for example the SEAT Ibiza.
