The All-New Kia EV6
Following on from the success of the award-winning Kia e-Niro, Kia introduces the new all-electric Kia EV6. As Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle, deliveries for this electric crossover are expected to arrive in the UK from October 2021. Direct rivals for this new Kia electric car will include the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Volkswagen ID.4. So, read on for more details such as the Kia EV6 price, specifications and key features.
Pricing & Specification
The entry-level Kia EV6 price will start from £40,895 and comes well equipped. Key standard features include rear parking sensors, heated from seat, 19-inch alloy wheels and adaptive cruise control. If you would prefer a sportier version, the Kia EV6 GT-Line is available from £43,895 for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model and £47,895 for the all-wheel-drive (AWD). In addition to the standard EV6 features, the GT-Line gets sportier bumpers, privacy glass, front parking sensors and blind-spot warning. For a higher spec, view the EV6 GT-Line S which comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, heated outer rear seats and a panoramic sunroof. Pricing for this starts from £48,395 for the RWD option and £51,895 for the AWD.
The range-topper Kia EV6 GT has been confirmed for the UK. However, this doesn’t go on sale until 2022 and prices are expected from around £58,295. This will feature GT exterior styling, 21-inch alloy wheels, as well as a few extra paint options. Deliveries of the GT version are expected to start nearer the second half of 2022.
Range, Charging and Performance
The Kia EV6 has two battery options, however in the UK all the EV6 models will have the bigger 77.4kWh battery as standard. In terms of range, the entry-level Kia EV6 with RWD can travel up to 328 miles on one charge (WLTP). Meanwhile, the higher spec GT Line and GT-Line S AWD options, have a reduced range of up to 314 miles. As for charging, the Kia EV6 can recharge from 10-80% in under 18 minutes using Ultra-fast Charging (800V). Plus, quick charging this electric car gets you over 60 miles of driving range from around 4.5 minutes charge time. When it comes to performance, the flagship GT model is the one to watch out for. The dual-motor EV6 GT gets a combined 585hp and is expected to reach 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds – very impressive! Also, as the quickest Kia yet built, it has a top speed of 162mph.
Design & Features
We think the new Kia EV6 has a unique and inspiring design. The front of this electric car has wide headlights and a small grille. To the rear, there’s a full-length taillight bar. Plus, this Kia electric car has a maximum towing capacity of 1,600 kg, depending on the battery size and drivetrain. Inside the Kia EV6, it features dual 12.3” curved displays, plus an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display shows information on the windscreen when used. Furthermore, sustainable materials have be used to make the seats in this electric car. In terms of boot space, it has a decent 520-litre boot capacity. This is slightly smaller than the VW ID.4 boot space though.
If you’re looking for an electric car with an excellent range and design, then the new Kia EV6 could be a great contender. Kia has been recognised as one of the fastest-growing brands within the UK, having built and improved its reputation in recent years. Of course, you will have to wait until later this year when deliveries start for the Kia EV6. Not sure if an electric car is right for you?
