New Nissan Ariya UK Revealed
Nissan’s new five-seater, electric crossover SUV is on its way! The new Nissan Ariya is expected to rival the likes of the Skoda Enyaq and new Tesla Model Y. Driving the future, this Nissan electric car is available to pre-order now with prices starting from just over £41,000. Will this become Nissan’s flagship electric car or is the competition stronger? Let’s take a look at the main highlights of the new Nissan Ariya.
Nissan Ariya Interior, Design & Features
The new Nissan Ariya offers the perfect blend of both sporty and futuristic features throughout. Externally, this electric car has a bolder design than key rival – The Tesla Model Y. The exterior of the Ariya features a V-Motion grille, LED headlights, a low-slung coupe roofline and 19-inch aluminium wheels as standard, giving this a sporty look. Meanwhile, we think the Nissan Ariya interior is well organised thanks to the practical layout. The minimalistic, yet stylish look makes this an elegant crossover SUV. We also like the two large 12.3” displays for the infotainment screen with integrated controls. The new ‘Hey Nissan’ voice command system can be used to control an array of features in this electric car. This allows for an enjoyable and stress-free drive on your journeys.
The Nissan Ariya interior has ample storage space, as well as decent boot space. Two-wheel drive models have a 466-litre boot, while the all-wheel-drive models have a slightly reduced capacity. Although this isn’t class-leading, it does surpass the flagship Nissan Qashqai’s boot space. In terms of size, this Nissan is almost identical to the popular Volkswagen ID.4. Plus, the Nissan Ariya is expected to offer a comfortable ride due to the quality materials used throughout, particularly for the seats.
Nissan Ariya Range & Performance
The Nissan Ariya is available as either two or four-wheel drive. The Nissan Ariya can achieve up to 310 miles (WLTP) with an 87kWh battery. This is only slightly less than the electric range of the Tesla Model Y Long Range. However, the two-wheel-drive 63kWh Nissan Ariya has a lower range of up to 223 miles. This reduces further by selecting a four-wheel-drive 63kWh Ariya. That said, many drivers should still find this sufficient based on their lifestyle. It might not be as far as a petrol equivalent, but how often do you drive more than 200 miles in a day without stopping?
As for charging the Nissan Ariya, this is quick and easy with various methods available. In particular, it’s claimed rapid charging (public) of this electric car can provide up to 186 miles in around 30 minutes. Performance wise the Nissan Ariya offers excellent handling and agility. For the ultimate experience, you could opt for the Nissan Ariya performance model. This has a dual motor producing 394hp and reaches 0-60mph in just 5.1 seconds! Also, the performance model has a top speed of 124mph compared to the single motor versions with a max. speed of 100mph.
Nissan Ariya Price & Specs
This Nissan electric car will be available with two battery options and three drivetrains. The Nissan Ariya price starts from £41,845 with the 63kWh battery and Advance trim. This means none of the specs will qualify for the Government’s plug-in car grant. Compared to rivals, the Nissan Ariya price is much cheaper than the Tesla Model Y, although slightly more expensive than the Skoda Enyaq. For a top-spec Nissan Ariya 87kWh e-4orce performance model, you can expect pricing nearer to £60,000.
Deliveries of the new Nissan Ariya UK are expected to start mid-2022, although pre-ordering is available now. We feel the Ariya is a great addition to Nissan’s model line-up, especially as demand for electric cars continues to rise. At GB Vehicle Leasing, we particularly like the bold design of the Nissan Ariya and expect it to become a popular option for families. However, if your budget accommodates, you may prefer the new Tesla Model Y. This is capable of a greater range and better performance than the Nissan Ariya, although you can expect to pay at least £10,000 more for it. That said, the Nissan Ariya is still an excellent Nissan electric car for a reasonable price. So, could this be your ideal electric crossover SUV?
