New Mercedes-Benz EQE Coming Soon
As part of Mercedes’ growing line of electric EQ models, there’s a new Mercedes-Benz EQE coming soon. This new model is an all-electric saloon, set to rival the amazing Tesla Model S. The new Mercedes EQE will look similar to the EQS, although slightly more compact in size. Is it grabbing your attention yet? Read on to find out more.
Mercedes EQE Design & Features
Modern, sleek, luxurious – three words that spring to mind when looking at the Mercedes EQE. If you've been waiting for luxury EVs to get serious, your time may have come here. Externally, this Mercedes car has a futuristic shape, as well as featuring a swooping roofline and chrome trim. Meanwhile, the interior is almost identical to the Mercedes EQS, and high-quality materials used throughout really give this electric Mercedes a luxurious feel. The Mercedes EQE has a dual-screen infotainment system as standard, although by upgrading you get Mercedes’ advanced Hyperscreen system. Furthermore, the Mercedes EQE is reasonably spacious although it isn’t class leading. In terms of boot space, this Mercedes has a 430-litre boot which is smaller than we expected. In fact, this is around 110-litres smaller than the Mercedes E-Class saloon.
Currently, we’re still awaiting an official Euro NCAP Safety Rating for the new Mercedes EQE. However, as this model is very similar to the Mercedes EQS which has already received a full five-star rating, we expect the Mercedes EQE to achieve the same. This new Mercedes electric car has plenty of advanced safety tech on board, giving you peace of mind on all your journeys.

Mercedes EQE Range & Performance
One of the key details about the new Mercedes-Benz EQE is its epic range ability. In fact, with a 90kWh battery, it’s claimed that this electric car has an impressive range of up to 394 miles (WLTP), depending on the model you select. This is around 35 miles greater than the estimated range for the Tesla Model 3 Long range. However, it doesn’t quite match the Mercedes EQS’s electric range of up to 453 miles (WLTP). It’s important to note that electric range can vary depending on factors such as the weather and driving styles. Also, Mercedes has ensured charging this electric car is quick and easy with various methods available. In particular, the Mercedes EQE can reach 10-80% charge using public rapid charging in just 32 minutes! Meanwhile, standard AC charging at 11kW takes 8hr 25m.
Performance wise the Mercedes EQE 350+ model offers excellent handling and agility. With its single motor producing up to 292hp, this electric car has a 0-62mph time of 6.4 seconds. Mercedes has also revealed the AMG 43 and 53 which are faster versions and have a 0-60mph time of 3.3 seconds. This is rather impressive for a pure electric car, although it doesn’t quite match the incredible 0-60mph time of 1.99 seconds* for the Tesla Model S Plaid (*with rollout subtracted).

Mercedes EQE Price
The Mercedes EQE price starts from £76,450 for the entry-level 350+ AMG Line trim. This is slightly more expensive than the entry-level Tesla Model S but not by too much. That said, key features for this Mercedes EQE spec include 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof and AMG sports seats. If you would prefer bigger 20-inch alloy wheels and slightly extra interior storage, then upgrade to the Mercedes EQE 350+ AMG Line Premium. However, the AMG Line Premium is priced from £81,450, so it is really worth the extra £5,000 for minimal upgrades?
Stepping up from the premium spec is the Mercedes EQE 350+ AMG Line Premium Plus starting at £88,450. This comes with upgrades such as 21-inch alloy wheels, sound-deadening glass and a Burmester stereo as standard. Alternatively, for the same price, the Mercedes EQE 350+ Exclusive Luxury has more of a focus on comfort than sportiness. This model comes with comfort seats, upgraded ambient lighting and tinted side windows, just to mention a few points.

Our Thoughts on The Mercedes EQE
If you’re looking for an upmarket electric car with a sophisticated design, then definitely take a look at the new Mercedes EQE. It offers an excellent electric range, plenty of advanced technology and a sleek interior. At GB Vehicle Leasing, we expect this all-electric saloon to attract a lot of attention and can’t wait to start seeing them hitting the roads. Even with the continued rise in demand for SUVs and crossovers, there remains a strong market for this type of car. However, we do feel the Tesla Model S remains a great rival as a quicker electric car. Alternatively, you may consider the Tesla Model 3 as better value for money because it’s still an upmarket electric car but offers more sensible pricing.
