Look-a-like Cars
As the automotive industry continues to expand, car manufacturers are continuously introducing new or facelifted models to their range. Often car manufacturers will get inspiration for new designs from pre-existing rival cars on the market. We've decided to look at some examples of look-a-like cars and how they compare as well as differ from each other.
Mid-size cars:Jaguar XF vs Ford Mondeo
The Jaguar XF is a luxury mid-size car which offers excellent styling along with an impressive range of safety equipment as standard. If you’re looking for a sporty saloon providing excellent handling, then look no further. The XF’s steering is smooth and precise, plus the tyres offer unrivalled grip. However, this luxury car is known to lack reliability compared to it’s rivals, so is it worth the premium price tag?
Alternatively, with a much lower price tag, the Ford Mondeo is a great option for a reliable mid-size car. It also offers spacious front and boot space, although it lacks sufficient leg room in the rear compared to its rivals. The Jaguar XF and the facelifted Ford Mondeo appear to have a similar external shape. However, the interior of the XF is more luxurious, as expected with it being a more prestige car than the Mondeo.
City Cars:Peugeot 108 vs Citroen C1
The Peugeot 108 is a cost effective city car, ideal for drivers who have a tight budget. Overall, for a car in the low price range, the Peugeot 108 has a good overall build quality and generous standard equipment. However, as with most city cars, there is a lack rear space in this car so the rear seats are tight for adults to access and the boot size is limited.
Alternatively, the Citroen C1 is another great city car and slightly undercuts the Peugeot 108 on price. Unfortunately, the interior quality is lacking in the C1, although this is no surprise for such a low priced car. However, this nippy small car is easy to drive and it offers excellent visibility which makes parking it easy. This could be the ideal first car for a new/young driver. The Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1 are close rivals, sharing a similar shape and interior look.
