Porsche Taycan: Porsche’s first full-electric sports car
Exciting news for car enthusiasts! Porsche’s first full-electric sports car, The Taycan is bursting with futuristic elements. The name “Taycan” translates to “lively young horse” which we think is perfect for this powerful and performance-oriented car.
This is an amazing venture for Porsche and there’s been talk of the Taycan (originally known as the ‘Mission E’) for several years now. In 2018 whilst discussing the price of the Taycan with Automotive News, Robert Meier, the model-line director for the Porsche Taycan said, “We’re expecting a price somewhere between a Cayenne and a Panamera,” Initially, Porsche plans to produce between 20,000 and 25,000 yearly units of the Taycan, however the exact starting price is still yet to be confirmed.
We think the Taycan looks spectacular and is likely to become a popular option for customers looking to own an electric car. In particular we like the design of this new car, as it offers the high quality and look of a traditional Porsche whilst appealing to the increasing demand for electric cars. The Taycan takes the form of a four-door saloon but it also incorporates coupe design cues. Currently, Porsche are keeping reasonably tight-lipped on the interior design but we expect nothing short of a prestige interior and extreme comfort as featured in other Porsche cars.
Performance & Range
Our excitement for this car continues when we look at the performance and range capacity available. Charging the Taycan will be very quick and the total charging capacity is expected to be around 310 miles based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Also, its been reported that the Taycan is expected to cover 0-62mph in under 3.5 seconds and 0-124mph in under 12 seconds. These figures are very impressive! The Taycan will definitely be stylish, sporty and extremely rapid.
So are you excited for the official release of the Taycan in the UK? Could this potentially be your new electric car once released? It's exciting times in the motoring industry and we can't wait to find out more details about the Porsche Taycan.
